Paris Alumna Sarah Wilson Honored at Band Banquet
  Sarah Wilson, Class of 1965, was recognized at the Band Awards Banquet held Tuesday, May 24, 2011, for her twenty-five years of dedicated service to the Marching Band as Director of the Color Guard.   Click here to view the complete photo gallery. 

Paris Alumni Gather for Annual Banquet and Awards
  The Paris Alumni Association held its 93rd annual banquet on Saturday, May 21, 2011.  Over eighty alumni and guests honored the Class of 2011.  Congratulations to Eugene "Puck" Puckett (Class of 1978) who was the recipient of the Kirkpatrick Cup.  This award is given annually to a loyal alum of PHS.  Wayne Brown (Class of 1961) presented the award. Ivan Rice (Class of 1981) was the guest speaker.  Visit the high school home site for more about the banquet.  

Paris High School to Hold 114th Commencement Exercises
Paris High School will hold Commencement Exercises on Thursday, June 2, 2011 beginning at 7:00 p.m. in Earl E. Redwine Gymnasium.  The guest speaker will be Paris alumnus Bill Alverson  (Class of 1974). 

State Testing Begins

It is time for our students to show their academic knowledge and skills on the KY Core Content Test.  Parents, please make sure your child is present each day of testing.  Also, make sure your child gets at least eight hours of sleep and a good breakfast.  This is our opportunity to show that Paris students are the best in the state!

Paris High School Alumni Banquet to Be Held Saturday, May 21
The Paris High School Alumni Association will host the annual Alumni Banquet on May 21st at 6:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Center cafeteria. The guest speaker will be Ivan (the Doctor of Sports) Rice,(1981). The Class of 2011 will be honored guests. Tickets can be purchased at the HS office or at Hinton Turner Funeral Home.  The cost if $10.  If you have any questions, please contact Jennifer Allen, PHS Alumni Association President, at the high school, 987-2168, or by email: jennifer.allen@paris.kyschools.us 

Preschool and Kindergarten Registration
Registration for 2011-2012 preschool and kindergarten is scheduled for May 19, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. in the lobby of Paris Elementary School.  If you need to schedule a screening for your three-year-old, please call 987-9127.

Local Public Hearing
On behalf of the Paris Independent Local Planning Committee, the Paris Independent Board of Education will convene a Local/State Public Hearing to review the proposed District Facilities Plan.  The hearing will be held on  Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at the Central Office Board Room at 6:30 PM local time. This hearing will be for the purpose of recording testimony concerning the District Facilities Plan.


Dan Cummins Chevrolet Donates to PHS
  A huge thank you to Dan Cummins Chevrolet for their donation of $2,200 to Paris High School as part of their "Drive for Perfection" campaign.  Presenting the check are Jessica Coleman and Josh Cummins of Dan Cummins Chevrolet. 

Paris High School Student Recognized by Congressman Ben Chandler
  Congratulations to Katie Hoover, PHS Senior, who was honored by U.S. Congressman Ben Chandler at a ceremony at Eastern Kentucky University on Monday evening, May 9, 2011 for her entry in The Ben Chandler Congressional Art Contest.  Katie entered an original photograph entitled, "A Day in My Shoes".  Katie was the overall county division winner and overall winner in the photography category.  Click here to see Katie's award winning photo. 

Teacher Appreciation Week, May 2 - 6, 2011
Teacher appreciation week is the perfect time in the year to take a moment to show your appreciation to teachers for all the effort they put in each day!  We value our teachers and staff at Paris Independent Schools!  As Henry Adams said, “A teacher affects eternity; he can never tell where his influence stops.” 

Facilities Planning Committee - Public Notice
The Paris Independent Schools Local Planning Committee will hold a series of meetings to consider long-range facility planning needs for the Paris Independent Schools.  Public forums to receive public comment on needs and potential plans will be held at 5:30 p.m. on the following dates:  March 29, April 13, and May 5 to review proposed plan and receive public comment.  Local Planning Committee meetings will be held on the following dates:  March 29, April 13, and May 5 at 6:00 p.m. A special-called School Board Meeting will be held on May 5 at 7:00 p.m. to consider the recommended long-range facility plan provided by the Committee.
