James Morris

Hello! My name is James Morris, and I’m the music teacher at Paris Elementary and the Assistant Band Director at Paris High School.

I was born in Madisonville, KY and while I was still in my first year my family moved back to Southern Illinois (where my Dad grew up). Many years later my family moved back to Madisonville where I lived until I graduated from high school. After high school, I graduated from the University of Kentucky which brought me to Paris. I have since earned a Master’s degree from Eastern Kentucky University as well.

When I was in fifth grade my parents took me to New Orleans for the first of many times to come, where I heard live music playing everywhere, and from that moment I knew I wanted a vocation in music. So, the next year I started playing saxophone in my elementary band.

Growing up in Western Kentucky & Southern Illinois, I was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan since my first game at the age of one (and to say I never grew out of it would be a gross understatement)! So, my two favorite hobbies are baseball and music (especially jazz). I do enjoy running, reading, and playing golf as well. And I especially enjoy doing these activities with my family!

My wife is also a teacher (Mrs. Morris at Paris Elementary) and, as of now, I have one son, Samuel, and one daughter, Emma!
