Beta Club Inducts New Members
Congratulations to 7th and 8th grade students who were inducted into Paris Middle School's Junior Beta Club during a ceremony held on Tuesday, November 22, 2011. 

Sixth Grade Students Construct Catapults
Students in Ms. Michella Hopkins' sixth grade science class worked in teams to construct catapults.

Midterm Reports Sent Home Friday, November 19, 2011
Second nine weeks midterm reports were sent home with students Friday, November 19, 2011.   

Davidson Named Teacher of Year
  Congratulations to Paris Middle School teacher, Ms. Ann Davidson, who was recognized as Paris Independent Schools Teacher of the Year at the annual Paris/Bourbon County Chamber of Commerce awards dinner held on Tuesday, November 15, 2011. 

Veterans Remembered on 11.11.11
Rev. Morgan Gilkey, middle school staff member, was honored by Miss Samantha Roy's classes on Veterans Day.  Students presented Gilkey with handmade thank you cards.  In photo above left, Alexis, Dalen, Ciera and Aaron present their card. 

Students Recognized for KCCT Scores

Paris Middle School held an awards ceremony on October 27, 2011 recognizing those students who scored proficient or distinguished on last year’s KCCT state testing. Tristan (photo above left) scored distinguished in three testing areas as an eighth grade student last year on the state mandated KCCT test. Pictured above right are current seventh grade students who scored distinguished in all tested areas as sixth graders. From left are Akhira , Shelbie, Louella  and Elizabeth.

Sale of Middle School Yearbooks Extended
The yearbook sale will continue through November 22, 2011!  Buy now at the special price of $20.00 instead of $25.00.  Yearbooks  may be purchased from Mrs. Amy Mason or Peyton Mathes, Paris Middle School yearbook editor.  The yearbook staff is very excited to offer a middle school yearbook as it has been three years since the middle school has had one. Yearbooks will be hard back covers and all color. The theme is "A Look before we Leap"! Don't be left out, get your yearbook today!  

Paris Middle Afterschool Program Featured in Publications
Paris Middle School is pleased to announce the start of a new afterschool program, "Starting Gate".  The program is offered through a partnership with Race for Education, an organization that provides educational opportunities for young people.  Paris Middle is one of two schools in the state participating in this program.  Paris Middle was featured in two online publications, "Race for Education" and "Kentucky  Forward" .  Please click on the publication name (in orange) to read the article and learn more about the program. 

Middle School Football Players Honored

Running back Marquaze Hill and quarterback James Clark will be part of middle school all-star football festivities at Kentucky State University on Thanksgiving weekend when they suit up for their respective teams. Hill will play for Team Kentucky, while Clark, who was named to the Middle School All-State Team, will play in the Kentucky East vs West All-Star game.  Click here to read more.

Cell Phones for Soldiers
Paris Middle School is participating in the "Cell Phone for Soldiers" collection drive.  Students may bring in used, damaged, and forgotten cell phones to donate to the cause.  These phones will be recycled through our local Chevy dealerships and the proceeds will purchase phone cards for soldiers.  Phones may also be donated at Dan Cummins Chevrolet.  Students who contribute a cell phone will qualify for a dress down day scheduled for November 18, 2011.  Students may wear jeans and their favorite shirt.

Paris Middle School Conducting Food Drive!
  Paris Middle will continue to collect canned goods through November 17, 2011.  Food items will be donated to the local Kiwanis Club for distribution. 

Art Students Create Banner for National Conference

Eighth grade students Morgan, Alyssa, Kristen, Brianna, Tyra and Autumn display the banner they created for the "Taking the Lead" Art Banner Showcase at the National Middle School Association Conference to be held in Louisville November 10-12.  Paris Middle School was selected in June to be one of the participants in the horse-themed banner showcase.  The girls are students of art teacher, Mrs. Crystal Wilkie.      

Is your Child College and Career Ready?
Paris Middle School will hold an informational meeting for eighth grade parents on Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 6:00 p.m. in the library.  During this meeting staff will discuss ACT, Explore and Plan data.  This data helps to project how your child will perform on the ACT.  Mrs. Dailey, Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. Ogden will explain reports and take questions.  If you are unable to attend this meeting, please contact the school to make an appointment.  Appointments must be scheduled before November 10, 2011.  Students earn free dress down  coupon for parent attendance!  (Coupon good for November 10, 2011.)

Middle School Band to Perform November 1
The Paris Middle School  Band will present a Fall Concert on Tuesday, November 1, 2011 in the Siwicki Center for Fine Arts Auditorium.  The concert will begin at 7 p.m.
