Congratulations to Akhira Umar!
  Congrats to Akhira who qualified for state recognition and possible summer studies with her ACT score through the Duke TIP program.  Akhira will be honored at a ceremony on May 25, 2012 at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green.

Midterm Reports Sent Home Tuesday, April 24!
Midterm reports for the fourth nine weeks grading period were sent home with students on Tuesday, April 24, 2012.   

Sixth Grade Holds Career Day
  
 

Career Day for sixth grade students was held on Thursday, March 29. Students were assigned into groups and rotated through four different career stations. Students learned about careers in law enforcement and firefighting, physical therapy, photography and small business and education.


Art Students Learn about Gyotaku
  Alexis and Nohemy create a piece of original artwork using block printing.  Students had learned about the practice of gyotaku in Mrs. Crystal Wilkie’s art class. Gyotaku is a traditional form of Japanese fish printing, dating from the mid-19th century.  It is a form of nature printing used by fishermen to record their catches. 

SBDM Parent Elections Set for April 25
The Paris Middle School SBDM election will be held Wednesday, April 25th.  Parents or guardians of students who will be in grades 6 through 8 during the 2012 - 2013 school year are eligible to vote.  Two parent volunteers will be accepting votes in the library from the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  You may enter the library through the side entrance by the gymnasium.  We have two parents nominated: Chris Jones and Marcius Garr.  If you have any questions concerning the election process please contact the office at 987-2163.  Thank you.

Paris Middle School Begins Process of Electing Parent Reps to SBDM
Nominations for parent representatives to the SBDM Council will be accepted in the school office from April 12, 2012 through April 20, 2012.  We also need two parents to volunteer to run the election.  Please contact the school office if you are interested in helping.  Qualifications and expectations of parent representatives, along with rules governing the election, can be found on the following link.  Click here.
