Eighth Grade Basketball Players Recognized

Congratulations Cameron Zingg!
 
Cameron Zingg won the school-wide spelling bee held on Tuesday, January 24.  Katie Hamrick was the runner-up.  Cameron will compete in the county-wide spelling bee in February. 

Astronomy Night Attracts Many Star Gazers!
Mr. David Duszynski, astronomer and father of Paris MS teacher Mr. Evan Duszynski, helped middle school students, parents and families explore the January night sky on Monday, January 30, 2012.  Mr. "D" taught students about constellations, planets, stars and nebulae.  The scientific fun continued as those in attendance ventured out in the night to view what they had learned about through a large telescope.  Students were able to see Venus and Jupiter! 
  

Quick Recall Team Takes Second Place
  Congratulations to Paris Middle School Academic Team who won third place overall at the 2012 District Governor's Cup Match held at Bourbon County Middle School on Saturday, January 21, 2012.  The Quick Recall team finished in second place.  Up next, Regional Governor's Cup!

City of Paris Commemorates Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr

  The community of Paris celebrated the legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 16 with the city's annual march.  Several Paris Middle School students marched  in this event.  Photo by Rebecca Lawyer, The Bourbon County Citizen.  Reprinted with permission. 

Congratulations to Marquaze Hill
  Congratulations to Marquaze Hill who was chosen to represent Paris Middle School on the Kentucky All-Star Football Team.  His team defeated Illinois, Wisconsin, and Missouri before playing in San Antonio, Texas last week. Kentucky All-Stars came up a little short to Oregon but were able to bounce back and defeat Massachusetts to finish third place in the National Middle School Football League.
 

Event at Adena Springs Farm Benefits Paris Middle
 
Pictured above are Adena Springs Farm's stallion Einstein and Paris Middle School students at Adena Springs’ Open House Stallion Show on January 8th, 2012.  The event benefited the Race for Education’s Starting Gate Youth Program at schools in Bourbon County and Paris.  To read more about the event, click here to read the press release or click here to review an article published in Kentucky Forward.

Congratulations Sixth Grade Showcase Team
 
Congratulations to sixth grade showcase team members who finished in third place in quick recall!  Other individual awards (pictured above left to right, front to back) are Avery Patrick (6th place, Arts and Humanities), Amanda Morgan (6th place, Language Arts), Katie Hamrick (1st place, Arts and Humanities), Laurel Gibson (5th place, Composition), Ben O'Bryan (3rd place, quick recall), Sam Derrickson (3rd place, Social Studies), and Tate Sullivan (2nd place, Science, 2nd place, Social Studies).  Absent when photo was taken were team members Jarod O'Bryan and Eva Saylor.  

Report Cards Sent Home January 4, 2012
  Second nine weeks report cards were sent home with students on Wednesday, January 4, 2012.   

Sixth Grade Students Construct Models
 

  Students in Ms. Michella Hopkins math class created "to-scale" models as a learning project.  Students projects (pictured left and above) included playing fields, bedrooms, airplanes, cakes, a tissue box and even a shoe! 

Paris Middle School Student Government
 
Congratulations to these students who will serve as representatives of the students body at Paris Middle School.  The Student Government Organization is sponsored by Miss Samantha Roy.
