An Important Message from Superintendent Stephen McCauley

Good Afternoon Paris Greyhound Families,

I want to begin by saying thank you.  In this extraordinary situation we find ourselves in, you have risen to the occasion by supporting our efforts to continue instruction for our students on Non-Traditional Instruction days.  You have been truly amazing. I am so proud of how our students, staff and community have come together to make the most of this difficult circumstance.

As some of you are aware, I was on a call with the Governor this afternoon and he has asked schools to continue NTI instruction through May 1st.  Paris Independent Schools will follow his recommendation. Principals will be communicating with you very soon about how this next round of NTI day information will be rolled out to students and parents.  We will continue to monitor this situation as we move forward and I will let you know if closures and/or NTI days are extended beyond the May 1st date.

Being a parent of a child in this district as well as a toddler, I appreciate the hardship that comes with trying to maintain a “normal” life while also limiting our interactions with others and staying healthy at home.  As Governor Beshear says every evening at 5:00, “We will get through this, we will get through this together.” I speak for all of our staff when I tell you that we miss our students and we look forward to the day that we welcome them back to school, whenever that may be.

Finally, I want to let you know that we are working on contingency plans to address end of school issues such as graduation, prom, promotions, and credits, etc.  While we do not have all of those answers at this time, we will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as we move forward. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we adapt to this very fluid situation to help keep our staff and students safe while continuing learning in the best way we know how in this trying time.

Thank you,

Stephen McCauley
