Sixth Grade Visits Hopewell Museum

The Paris Middle School sixth grade recently went on a field trip to Hopewell Museum.  They learned about the history of Paris Independent Schools as well as completing an art project.  Students learned about the art of Talavera Tile, a form of art that originates from the city of Puebla in Mexico. While looking at examples of talavera tile,  students noticed how many of the images on the tile came from common themes of nature found in Mexico, along with geometrical patterns. Based on their observations of symmetry, asymmetry, color and pattern, students decorated their own paper tiles to take home with them.
